Dropp
ing off items:
We are observing an increased amount of ‘forgotten items being dropped off by parents to the office on a daily basis - forgotten lunches, jackets, shoes, instruments, forms, school work, etc. A good strategy to try is the implementation of a simple checklist at home that can be posted by the door your child uses to leave home. Getting students into a routine to ensure they have everything for school is a great habit and skill to develop a
we prepare them for the future. This is definitely a strategy I will be implementing in my home!

Nutritional Lunches:
A reminder to pack two lunches daily as we have two different lunch periods (Students eat at 10:50 am and 1:15pm). Keep in mind that your children are growing - what was sufficient last year for lunch may not be enough for them this year. Packing extra fruit, vegetables and a sufficient amount of food with protein will be beneficial to ensure your child is ready for learning. Need lunch ideas? Apple Program:
School Council is running the apple basket program again this school year to support healthy snacking and ensuring our kids are well nourished and ready to learn. Each Monday and Wednesday, a Katimavik family will fill the apple basket with 8-10 pounds (2 bags) of apples. Any variety of apple is welcome we just ask that you wash the apples before bringing them to school. In addition, you may consider bringing another type of fruit that is seasonal (oranges, bananas, pears). There will be a basket in both the junior and intermediate wings for students to access. We need your help! We are looking for families to provide apples/fruit for the Apple Basket at school.
